Intent
At Lyndhurst Community Primary School, we recognise our school context and have designed our Music curriculum with the intent that pupils build the secure foundations required to become successful and aspirational Musicians.
The school vision ‘Support, Challenge, Inspire’ is interwoven within our Music curriculum intent and design. The breadth of our curriculum is designed with three goals in mind:
Support
Lyndhurst’s Primary Music scheme of work aims to support pupils to develop their confidence in singing, playing, composing and listening and to develop transferable skills such as teamwork, creative thinking, problem solving, presentation and performance skills
Challenge
We challenge our children to develop their musical skills to become confident performers, composers and listeners. Ensuring that they have opportunities to perform both their own and more well know compositions on a regular basis to a variety of audience in and out of school
Inspire
We inspire pupils to feel that they are musical and to develop a love of music from all corners of the Earth and throughout the generations and to believe that their own efforts are of equal value. Giving them the opportunities to experience performances and performers from their local area and from around the world and to see music as a career in itself.
